5 Things You Should Know About Montreal’s Free EDM Concert On Crescent Street

Montreal’s very own free EDM festival “Villa Paradizo” starts today on Crescent street, and what better way to prepare for the madness than by reading up on what you could expect and how the festival came to life. We got to talk to the festival’s official spokesperson, Domenic Pandolfo (better known as Domeno), and here’s what he revealed about Villa Paradizo.

1) A festival inspired by the city

Everyone knows Summer is Montreal’s festival season. The idea for Villa Paradizo came from our own Summer festivals, such as the Jazz fest and the Just For Laughs festival, that have free shows on top of paid shows. Since Montreal has tons of venues and even their own EDM festival, Ile Soniq,  as of this year, the people behind Villa Paradizo thought it was time for a free street festival. As for the venue, they picked a typical Montreal landmark- Crescent street has housed some of the city’s best lounges, clubs, and restaurants, being one of most popular nightlife strips.

“Lets bring 1 FREE dance music event to the city, that was our goal!” –Domeno

2) Festival goers will be spoiled with free stuff

With sponsors like Bud Light, Virgin Radio, Lacoste L!ve, Sennheiser, and many more, festival goers have a really good chance of scoring some freebies all weekend long. They have showed an immense support to the festival and will definitely be involved with the crowd.

“What I really enjoy about all of our sponsors, is that they all LOVE the idea behind Villa Paradizo.” –Domeno

3) A welcoming festival

The festival will obviously bring the usual dance music fanatics; but by being free, outdoors, and all ages, Villa Paradizo will also be welcoming the younger people who love dance music but aren’t able to go out to see their favourite DJs yet. And by being in the heart of Downtown Montreal, they hope to intrigue tourists and passersby to join in on the fun and discover dance music.

4) Showcasing local talent

The lineup announces some big names like DJ Bl3nd and MAKJ, but also features way more locals than international DJs. More than just DJs, our very own talent are people who have been involved with the EDM industry and have been producing their own tracks.

“For sure we will be hearing a ton of new music made here, by our own local artists.” –Domeno

5) A crazy outdoor party

As far as stage production goes, get ready for way more than just a stage. The festival will have LED screens up and down the street, as well as crazy lights and amazing sound.

“So as soon as you step foot on Crescent, you’re walking into a dope ass party.” –Domeno
