Iceberg Festival: A celebration of winter with 10 hockey rinks and DJ BL3ND
A winter festival at Beachclub that embraces the Québec culture; Iceberg Festival.
Yesterday afternoon, Beachclub announced a new and improved version of their annual winter festival called Iceberg Festival. It’s not the first time Beachclub has hosted a festival during the winter season.
Back in February of 2014, Iceberg Festival was inaugurated by Pierre Touchette (previously the owner / currently a consultant for Beachclub) and Jean-Louis Labrecque (previously the talent buyer / currently the General Manager and Talent Buyer). A sabbatical year was taken during the transfer of ownership with the Primeau family but as of yesterday, Iceberg Festival is back to stay.
For it’s second edition, on Saturday February 20th and Sunday February 21st 2015, a new element has been added to the equation; the “Winter Classic Hockey Tournament”. In 2014 Iceberg Festival was simply a music festival. This year, the festival celebrates winter living in Quebec with all of it’s glory.
Over the course of 2 days, Saturday and Sunday, Iceberg Festival will host a ball hockey tournament on the “Lac de Pointe-Calumet”.
“We are planning on building 10 rinks for the tournament on the lake just next to our beach. I live in St-Martine on the South Shore and every year my brother and I, along with all our friends, take part in an outdoor hockey tournament. When it came time to start planning Iceberg Festival, we knew we had to use the lake that we have at our disposal just next to the Beachclub island. A hockey tournament was the obvious answer considering we are in Québec. What better way to celebrate winter than with electronic music and outdoor hockey” says Olivier Primeau, co-owner of Beachclub.

In addition, DJ BL3ND will be returning to Beachclub for a second time in less in 7 months, for a headlining DJ set on Sunday afternoon, while the finals of the hockey tournament go down. Top 3 finalist teams in the tournament will be battling it out for a total of $5000 in prize money. According to the post made on their Facebook page, more details will be revealed with regards to the registration for the tournament in the coming weeks. In addition, attendees can expect food trucks and ice bars as well as tents to keep warm.
Saturday will be free and open to the general public while the show with DJ BL3ND on Sunday requires a ticket for admission to the venue. Tickets for the event go on sale today at noon on Beachclub’s website at the price of 20$.
The event also features a special edition Beachclub Tuque now available on www.beachdayeveryday.co.
