JIAO Dim Sum Bar : Unique Gem in the Heart of the Old Port Everyone Has Been Waiting For
If there’s one thing that Montreal isn’t lacking it’s places to go out. From restaurants to bars and clubs, you’re sure to find something to your liking, especially with everyone trying to distinguish their establishment from others a block away. However, the easiest way to distinguish yourself is to offer something that can’t be found anywhere else… introducing the first every dim sum bar in the city called JIAO.

There are several restaurants that offer dim sum and that are specialized in this kind of dish, but nothing like this. It’s called a bar for a reason; it closes as late as a regular bar but keeps serving food past midnight, which isn’t common with simple restaurants. Late night snacking at its best.
This August, get ready to experience Chinese fine dining with a twist : the 50 seater will be anything but ordinary. Located at 399 Notre-Dame West, the elevated tapas bar is birthed by no other than Tongue Bui, a legend in the nightlife industry that I had the privilege to sit down with.

Dishes will range between $10 and $20, making JIAO the perfect option not only for after going out eats but also for a quick work lunch, a group dinner, a nice date or drinks with a chill vibe. On weekends, there will be a late night takeout window as well, making this the only spot in Old Montreal to currently offer this service. As if we needed more reasons to be excited.

Because Tongue and his partner and friend Oliver Berkani (formerly from Shinji, & owner of Phoenix1, Queen B, & King Bao food trucks) both know a lot about experience, making people feel special and quality happenings, there’s something special to look out for… The $100 dumpling that is infused with the renowned spirit Remy Martin Louis XIII. You read that right.
Between bao buns, Alaskan king crab, mushrooms and other top quality ingredients, flavour explosions and freshness are on the menu. Lookout for that well-awaited opening in August where you will be able to try the food alongside a signature cocktail menu.
