Restaurant Chez L’Épicier Renews Concept, Decor and Approach to Client Experience
The world class restaurant Chez L’épicier, which has been granted several awards for its refined gastronomy and warm decor, will soon be celebrating its 20th anniversary. The Montreal institution founded by visionary chef Laurent Godbout has undeniably adapted over the years and rallied a crowd of loyal customers who were able to feast on this well-executed cuisine.

Today, after nearly 20 years, the restaurant unveils a sumptuous new decor, an innovative concept different from the previous one, and a team, in kitchen and dining room, young and talented. The new concept 2.0 is a more modern version with a redesigned design and greater enhancement of local producers.
In its new formula, the restaurant underwent a makeover and many changes have been made to the interior space of the establishment. The chef and owner stated that he wanted to keep a dining room section white tablecloth style, but allow a greater interaction between clients and the kitchen. He also looked into integrating a friendlier bar section : a place where people would come and enjoy some oysters while relaxing with friends and a glass of wine or a cocktail, recommended by the sommelier or mixologist.

The two new sections of the restaurant will each have a distinct identity with their own menu. However, it is possible to order à la carte dishes from the dining room menu and enjoy them on the bar side. They will offer in the bar section delicious seafood, fish and vegetables, as well as small plates to share – tapas style. The atmosphere will be more casual and people can either spend the evening there or simply start it on that side before crossing into the dining room to live the full experience.

The new concept of Chez L’épicier wants to give meaning to its brand by allowing patrons to buy local groceries on site. The customers will be able to buy quality products from the restaurant’s various local suppliers by choosing them themselves in the fridge installed at the entrance of the establishment.
In addition, it will also be possible for customers to purchase and bring home a refined bottle of wine. The restaurant is essentially a place to showcase Quebec artisans as well as being a place of discovery for local and international clients.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a complete unique concept without a special touch. There is something called the chef’s table and the bartender’s table, where you can expect to get the best experience in-house thanks to the staff’s recommendation and personal attention all evening long. Reservation in advance in mandatory.
Renting the space downstairs for a private party is also possible. Enjoy the beautiful location in the old port as well as the stunning decor, for birthdays, business lunches or any kind of celebration that requires good food and stellar hospitality.
