New Thaiwaiian Restaurant The Farsides Opens in the Old Port : Mouthwatering Dishes and an Homage to Brooklyn in the 90s

In this cold winter we’re having, we all need a quick escape from time to time. If you’re a foodie, eating out tasty and unique dishes in a warm ambiance is a great way to take a quick trip without actually leaving the city. Hospitality and entertainment group Jegantic, the creatives behind many Montreal hotspots, most recently Bord’elle, launched their latest venture called The Farsides and it’s straight up awesome.

Coined as a “Thaiwaiian” restaurant and tiki bar, The Farsides, located at 690 Notre-Dame West, blends together 90s nostalgia with eastern Thai flavours and the shores of Hawaii. The result? A first-of-its-kind dining experience in the heart of Old Montreal’s Financial District mixed with a trip down memory lane for many of us.

With this establishment, they are bringing a unique twist to Old Montreal dining with a distinctive cuisine, urban concept, and reimagining of the tiki cocktail. Stepping into The Farsides is like walking into a contemporary take of a Brooklyn alleyway, circa 1992.

The delicious, innovative Thai-Hawaiian menu is the creation of award-winning executive chef Athiraj Phrasavath who made it his mission to offer comforting but elevated food. From dishes such as “Drunken Lobster Pad Thai” and Farsides’ yellow curry, to their “Big Poppa Pineapple Boat” and awesome fried shrimps, the restaurant provides an unparalleled dining experience for guests who want to relive the 90s for a night while indulging in some amazing food for a fun evening out.

The decor itself is worth the visit, if you ask us. Complete with high brick walls, fire escapes, graffiti-laced facades paying homage to 90’s urban pop culture and their very own basketball court (yes you read that right), the atmosphere at The Farsides is like nothing you’ve seen before. Add a touch of exotic with a jungle type overgrowth set to the beat of 90’s hip-hop to top it all off, and your journey is complete.

Kitchen closes at midnight so clients will be able to come and enjoy some late night eats paired with amazing cocktails. The restaurant holds a great array of tiki cocktails, expertly created by renowned mixologist Lawrence Picard. All of the cocktails are infused with the team’s passion for hip hop, which is reflected in the drinks’ unique names. Sit back and relax while sipping on a “Bad & Boozy”, an “I’m in Love with the Cocoa”, or even a “Ghostface Tequila” – this is a modern tiki bar like no other!

The Farsides will also offer a signature vegan menu, created by no other than MasterChef US winner Dino Angelo Luciano, featuring a range of dishes like the “Poblano Green Curry”, masterfully seasoned herb crusted cauliflowers skewers and so much more.
