Christian Ventura adds a new vegan address in the old port called BVRGER

BVRGER is the new place to enjoy a vegan burger in the old port of Montreal. Thanks to its original bvrgers made with quality and local vegan ingredients, eating less meat will never have been so easy and delicious. With its homemade fries and faux milkshakes, BVRGER offers you a nutritious meal on the go for less than $20. These high-end versions have nothing to envy to their traditional equivalents.

Christian Ventura, renowned chef in the vegan gastronomy world and owner of several amazing restaurants in Montreal (Momo sushi, Casa kaizen, Nopalito, Bloom sushi and now BVRGER) set out to create bvrgers that his customers will remember. He also wished to encourage patrons, at the same time, to reduce their meat consumption without compromising on taste, which he proves through his cuisine.

The menu is just the right size and level of variety, showcasing eleven bvrgers (3 classics and 8 creative bvrgers) made from quality and local ingredients in season as much as possible. The lineup includes the Truffle – brioche bread with confit oyster mushroom, caramelized onions with balsamic and truffle miso butter mayo, the cheese burger with its Big Burger sauce as well as the K-town with crispy chicken and spicy kimchi, to name a few.

Here’s the deal. Traditional meat patties are replaced with shiitake mushroom or patties made from plant-based alternatives such as sweet potato, soy, beans or nuts. Myself and my guest are meat eaters and we couldn’t tell the patty wasn’t made from meat. That’s how similar it is to the real thing and we were incredibly impressed. Chef Ventura nailed that recipe and is holding the secret to something very strong here, as I heard many attendees mention that they would switch out a meat patty for this one any day – a testament to how succulent this was.

Everything is served with delicious sides like fries or tater tots, and they also offer a variety of signature milkshakes made with oat milk to complement your order perfectly. The formula offered by BVRGER is very well thought of, because you’re getting a nutritious and succulent meal for less than $20, while it being healthier than most options available.

A green oasis

“The place will have a vibrant color that will make you think of a forest tapestry enriched by a few surprise elements. Each visitor will be transported into the wild universe of nature for the time of a meal break”, explains Chantal Royer, botanical designer who was responsible for the project.

Hydroponics will also be showcased by plant installations throughout the restaurant. The relaxed “mid century modern” style atmosphere offering around thirty seats inside is welcoming and friendly. A small terrace of about 10 places will also eventually be set up on the street.
