How did you first get into music?

Dannic: When I was really young, about 6 or 7, I started listening to my grandpa’s CD collection, which is only classical music, and I totally got hooked on music. It didn’t matter what kind of music; Michael Jackson, classical music, hip hop, R&B, house, whatever, I was always listening to the radio, always recording tracks that I liked at the time. I then started DJing when I was 17, about 10 years ago. Music is my passion, my life, and I never have to work anymore. It’s a blessing getting to do what I love, everyday.

So last year you got the opportunity to play at many different festivals, such as EZoo, EDC, Tomorrowland, etc. Which one was your favorite? Do you have a favorite venue?

Dannic: That’s so hard, it’s like picking your favorite child! Definitely Tomorrowland, one of the biggest festivals in the world, was a highlight for me because I never expected to be able to play there at that time, it’s all going so fast. And one of the best clubs in the world for me is Ministry of Sound (London, UK), which is great. I always love to play there, and this year I get my first headlining show at the venue.

We all know you as an artist under the Revealed label, how did you first get under Hardwell’s wing?

Dannic: Pretty naturally, we’ve known each other for 10 years already. At first we were best friends, since way before his successful career started. We met in a local bar back in Breda, our hometown, just drinking beer. At the time, he was playing in smaller clubs around the country and no one really knew him, but we instantly clicked and from that moment on we started making music together. We never had the idea of becoming big international DJs, and then all of a sudden I made this track, a bootleg of an old disco classic, and he liked it so much that he wanted to release it but didn’t have a label so he started Revealed Recordings. Then he sang on the track, it’s called Get Down Girl, and it’s the first ever Revealed release, and we just went from there! It all went really quickly, we did a collaboration with our track Kontiki, but I was still working a normal day job. I was a marketing manager, and he would always tell me “Man, get your ass out of behind your desk and come with me!” and I always thought it was  a big risk, but my parents were very supportive and told me they had my back. I’m so happy I made that jump, and now we’re here.

And how is it to work with him and the whole Revealed team?

Dannic: It’s pretty natural, everything is going really well. We’re still best friends and we send each other every demo that we have and if he wants to sign it, who am I to say no? That’s how my releases actually come together. It’s been really busy lately, I have about 5 new tracks coming out on the label. It’s the most important thing, to put out the music.

You just told us you were releasing 5 tracks soon, what else is coming in the future for you?

Dannic: I can tell you a few things. Hardwell premiered one of my new club hits in his Ultra set, which I’m really happy with. I also just released Anubi, with Merk & Kremont, and I’m doing a collaboration with Shermanology, I actually just finished the test version in my hotel. I’m also collaborating on a song with Dyro, called Radical, which will be released sometime in June, and a bunch of other tracks which I can’t talk about yet… But it’ll be cool.

You’ve obviously visited many cities in the last few years, what makes Montreal different?

Dannic: To be really honest, Montreal is one of my favorite cities in the world. I love Canada, and my first experience with Canada was our Canadian Bus Tour last year in February, and then of course we did New City Gas and wow! That club is sick, like an indoor festival, and the production is sick as well. But I love the city, I love coming here, it’s a special feeling that I enjoy.

So, can we get one unknown fact about you?

Dannic: That I’m, well at least that’s what my family says, I’m a pretty good chef. When I’m off or when I’m at home I love to cook for my family. I love making risotto or my favorite pasta dishes. It’s not really a guy thing to do, but I love cooking.
