This Year Bal en Blanc Will Officially Be Moved To The Bell Centre
AFTER 20 CONSISTENT YEARS OF CELEBRATING A NIGHT DEDICATED TO MONTREAL’S WHITE WINTER COAT, THE VENUE HAS MOVED TO THE BELL CENTRE.
Every year Montreal’s spring sees the city shake off the snow with a massive event titled Bal en Blanc. It’s been considered one of this city’s wildest parties because of the lineup that it brings every year ranging from Tiesto, Hardwell, Carl Cox, Deadmau5, Danny Tenaglia, and more in past years.
Bal en Blanc will take place on April 5th this year for it’s 21st annual celebration. The event has traditionally been held at Palais Des Congres in recent events, but this year the location has been moved to The Bell Centre. The change is a result of the World Irish Dancing Competition booking Palais Des Congres ahead of schedule several years earlier.
The new venue might entice potential ravers or previous attendees to see what makes the 21st annual addition such a special occasion. Yet the decision to move venues is facing serious disinterest from prior Bal en Blanc attendees who feel that it is a improper move to the magic of the original event.
Bal en Blanc will now be condensed into one room instead of two, limiting the amount of musical diversity that has previously been offered in multiple rooms at Palais Des Congres. The massively open atmosphere and arena structure of the Bell Centre will help increase total space for a bigger audience, but takes away from the authenticity of the event now at a stadium venue.
Either way, venues always change for major events such as Bal en Blanc, which actually started at Metropolis in it’s first few years. The crowd has grown from 2000 people in 1996 to over 13,000 people in 2014. Moving to a larger venue may simply be a logistical choice to build the brand further and bigger.
