4 New Asian Spots You Will Love That Opened In The City
We can easily say that eating good food in our city is not a difficult task to accomplish considering all the amazing choices available everywhere you turn. If tasty and comforting Asian cuisine is your thing, you’ll be pleased to know that a couple of new spots recently opened and are ready to welcome food lovers from all over town.
GOKUDO
Located in the heart of downtown, this new Japanese cocktail bar is not your regular Asian food joint. You experience two different ambiances under the same roof, both being worth your while. First, you walk into the restaurant where delicious Japanese dishes are served : from mini octopus salad to tartare to miso cheesecake, your palate is guaranteed to go on a journey.
Once you cross the black curtain, you enter the “gokudo” part of the establishment. A menu consisting of 7 cocktails is available, all of them created around the idea of putting forward the quality and the craftsmanship of Japanese bars. Not a lot of ingredients but using simple ones, as well as using them intelligently is the key, and it surely surpassed expectations. Going to Gokudo can be for a friends gathering, to grab a bite with someone, to enjoy intricate cocktails or simply to experience something unique.

BLOSSOM BAR
If you were wondering where those pictures of a gorgeous tree with pink flowers were from, you’ll be glad to know that Le Blossom Bar finally opened to the public and you can go check it out. The latest establishment spearheaded by Dan Pham and his partners is a unique concept that specializes in private-import sake, traditional handrolls, local wines and “new style” Japanese dishes.
Within Le Blossom’s enchanting décor is a 28-seat bar that will provide customers with a traditional Japanese handroll experience. The customers take a seat at the bar where their waiter will double as their chef and will be able to savour delicious premium quality fish, tempura and others delicacies.
If you’re more into drinks and foreign alcohols, Le Blossom offers an assortment of over 20 sakes that is constantly evolving. The restaurant also houses a range of carefully selected local wines, as well as Le Blossom-themed cocktails, developed by locally renowned mixologist – Lawrence Picard.
The stunning interior created by Guillaume Ménard of Atelier Mainor had one specific objective: to create a distinctive decor that stands out against all others. A design that’s both modern and minimalistic. The “cherry on top” is, however, the sprawling Cherry Blossom Tree that lives in the middle of the restaurant – adding even more of an allure to this already exceptional place.
KOZU
Not the newest but still making a lot of waves (in a good way) in a short amount of time. Kozu is an Asian inspired brasserie that serves delicate dishes packed with refined but complex flavours. From dumplings to papaya salads to tataki, food lovers will love the vibe there, which is a quality dining experience that is festive yet elegant
Located at 500 rue Rachel, it’s a wonderful spot for a nice dinner as well as grabbing a drink. Kozu offers an intricate cocktail list catered by no other than Lawrence Picard, one of Montreal’s finest leading mixologists. It promises that you will find something that not only you will enjoy, but that will impress your taste buds with the combinations.
The decor is impressive as well because of the type of materials as well as the very well-thought details and accents. The warm, intimate atmosphere sets the stage for the perfect date night, or a festive gathering with friends. The design features noble materials such as an electric marble bar, white oak floors and ceiling beams as well as custom lighting and wallpaper.
TSUKUYOMI
If a bowl of warm authentic ramen noodles makes your heart sing, you have to give Tsukuyomi a try. Offering a simple menu but packed with flavours, they serve 4 different variations of homemade noodles resting in their amazing broth, to which you can add and choose the garnishes. The dish is totally customizable, down to the amount of salt desired; there’s even a vegan option available.
Located at 5207 Saint-Laurent, the cozy decor makes it a great spot to warm yourself up during the cold winter months. The service is quick but still mindful; they love educating the client regarding why their ramen bowl is the best in town, going into details behind the process if patron are curious. The smiling staff welcomes you with an enthusiastic greeting and their price point is very decent, which makes it an awesome casual spot on the plateau.
