Lloydies : Caribbean Culture Through Food, Music, and More

With the rough winter we’ve been experiencing here in Montreal, daydreaming about booking a one way ticket to somewhere warm and sunny is a daily struggle. Since the average person doesn’t have the option to leave every time Mother Nature sends a blizzard our way, the next best thing is to visit Lloydies and escape to the Caribbean for one night.

For the past 30 years, the family behind Lloydies has been providing flavourful and accessible Caribbean food to montrealers around the city. The energy you feel when walking through the door of either locations is so welcoming, it’s almost like you’re walking into your home. For them, it was about offering a unique experience so clients could bask in the island culture through food, music, conversations with the staff as well as visual elements.

Not only is this quality comfort food, but it’s also versatile enough to satisfy anyone you choose to bring there. Portions are fairly generous for an affordable price considering the prime locations of the two spots, and they also have vegetarian and vegan friendly options on their menu. Special mentions to the jerk chicken and the patties – absolutely amazing.

“Our core values underline that we need to be authentic at all times, educate people on our culture and open a curiosity to learn more through food, graphic elements in our space and every interaction with a staff member.”

Lloydies has 2 locations for you to choose from in 2 hip neighborhoods of the city : one in the Mile End located at 66 Saint-Viateur West and one in the heart of downtown at 2145 Crescent street. Both will serve delicious dishes and have your taste buds travel on a culinary journey that is authentic and tasty. Little side note : they have a Rum Bar at the Crescent location!
