Caffè Farina : New Menu Showcasing Italy’s Hearty Flavors with a Twist
Some days you want to enjoy a nice sit down dinner and take the time to savour it, but other days, you wish you could have the same delicious food without the extra fluff. When in a rush, it is unfortunate to have to sacrifice taste and freshness of the food so it’s always a nice surprise when we find places that can balance quality with efficiency. A handful of establishments have nailed the art of combining the quickness and convenience of a counter with the intricate recipes of a sit down restaurant, and Caffè Farina is definitely a strong contender in that category.
Located in the heart of St-Henri, Caffè Farina opened in November 2017 and was welcomed by patrons in the neighborhood almost instantly. Now in 2019, you can tell it’s still a hip spot for numerous reasons. Recipes are delicious, prices are decent for the quality you’re getting, the location is great and the decor is super sleek.
We went for dinner but they also offer brunch and lunch; so more opportunities to go back and taste different things. Between the salad, main dish, dessert and drinks we got, we were able to get an idea of what the place had to offer. The ambiance is laidback and welcoming, yet you find refined dishes like truffle pasta on the menu (our favorite plate of the night) that won’t break the bank.
Food was impressive considering the menu and ingredients used in relation to prices. The portions are generous, which we always appreciate, and most importantly they made sense. You could tell what was a snack versus a meal; we felt full after our visit but not uncomfortable. They serve several kinds of coffee and hot/cool beverages, as well as alcohol so if you were worried about being able to order a classic aperol spritz, you’ll be fine.
A cool restaurant is nothing without a bomb staff and in this case, they are very friendly yet professional while being accommodating. They will make you feel at ease quickly and do add to the already cozy ambiance, making this place a go-to when you’re in the area. Grab a coffee on the go with a snack or have a sit-down dinner with a friend, both have their place at Caffè Farina.
With a cool decor like theirs, it’s impossible not to mention it. The space is trendy and cute with stylish pieces. Suede couches, marble tables with metal accents, it’s all sleek and luxe but still inviting. It definitely elevates the room but without trying to be something they’re not.
