5 Reasons Electronic Music Fans Will Absolutely Love Day 1 Of Osheaga
Osheaga is approaching with deadly speed as the start of August is close. Before long, the subway tunnels and night clubs will be bustling with young and old. People stream in from all corners of the globe, as Montreal constantly diversifies. Festival season is upon us.
The long awaited and forever memorable Osheaga festival has returned once again. The festival is home to a vastly wide range of music, as it contains nearly one hundred live musical performances. In this colourful spectrum of sound, there are still artists to discover and new musical material is always selected, especially for large events such as this.
Yet, of the three day festival, one day seems best fitted for those looking to hear synths, bass, 808 claps, or anything electronic. This is why electronic music fans will love day 1 of Osheaga this year.
1- 3 of the headliners on day 1 are EDM innovators
I am of course talking about Skrillex, Chromeo, and Chase and Status. All of these musicians have made serious impact on the industry. No other day has this many powerful electronic musicians headlining. Skrillex will be performing at the Molson Canadian stage from 7:35 to 9:05pm, while Chromeo will play the Garnier Fructis stage from 7:30 to 8:30pm.

2- The Piknic Electronik Stage Is Set For Friday (day 1)
From practically the start to the end of the line up at Piknic, there is never a cease of musical talent, as ODESZA starts the day off with sun soaked songs. Ryan Hemsworth and Shlohmo proceed accordingly, who take the day from a smooth start to a heavier transition.
At 5pm, Bro Safari comes on to set the tone for the crowd who is followed by Clockwork. Legendary Aussie, Flume takes the decks before Montreal’s own Jacques Greene. Greene will likely stray from his typical sound before the last performance, Chase and Status. This trio from London, UK, will play 9:30 to 11pm.

3- A Well Balanced Schedule
Festivals are perfect because you get to see all the musicians you’ve wanted to, but sometimes preferences can collide. One scroll through Friday’s schedule and it is obvious that there has been serious consideration with timing and musical flow. The overall idea of what type of music would work well with the time of day is perfectly arranged.

4- 3 Osheaga Afterparties On the First Night
There are three afterparties on Friday alone and all are sure to be chaotic. To start, Chromeo is playing at Corona Virgin Mobile Theatre where these two Montreal natives will most likely dive away from their more popular singles in a DJ set. Heavy electro producer Danger will take Belmont by storm, as part of MEG Fest. Lastly, RL Grime, Shlohmo, and Ryan Hemsworth are playing an afterparty at SAT to celebrate the WEDIDIT Label.

5- The Atmosphere On Friday Because It’s The First Day
Let’s face it, the first day people always go absolutely wild. For some people this is their first time at Montreal’s beloved festival, for others it’s another bracelet to the collection. Either way the first day of any summer festival is always full of fresh smiles and new shades.

All in all, this festival opens up a world of new talent and creativity to over 40,000 attendees each day. People come to experience good vibes, make new friends, and hear good music. CanadaNightlife.ca will certainly be there to guide you through the chaos with a high degree of charm.
