Happy 6th Birthday Matinee! Expect A Grand Celebration This Sunday
No need for us to tell you that Montreal knows how to party. In case you haven’t noticed, it doesn’t matter what time it is, any time is the right time to celebrate and have a good time. Over the past 6 years, Adamo Mariani and Mykl Zadourian have been perfecting their brunch party concept, Matinee.
Often compared to Bagatelle in the states, Matinee is Montreal’s first and only true successful brunch party. Kicking off around 2PM on very select weekends, usually Sundays, Matinee is the perfect party to cure your hangover and continue your party all weekend, all while preparing one for work the next day.
This Sunday, December 18th, is a huge milestone for the team and their crew; Matinee is turning 6 years old! From different themes, costumes, music videos, countless photos, bottles and more, Matinee is NOT just a party, but a brand. Guests flock from all over, mixing different ages and interests, to see what the boys have up their sleeves each time a party is announced.
Being two of the co-owners of Somwhr Liquor Lounge, you can always count on Mariani and Zadourian to throw the best parties. Priding themselves on customer service, creativity on production and having a rocking crowd, they know how to bring it. Always keeping their followers on their toes, each Matinee is thrown at a different venue, complete with new surprises and, as promised, their 6 year anniversary this upcoming Sunday will be no exception.
The venue chosen to ring in this milestone is Soubois. With its mystical forest decor, impeccable kitchen, and superb staff, Soubois is at the top of everyone’s list, making it the ideal venue for the 6th anniversary. As usual, Matinee resident DJs Danny Torrence and Toddy Flores will be spinning the hottest anthems, which will get the brunch party going as only they can. Brunch starts at 2pm and will be followed by bottle service.
The Matinee 6 year anniversary will be a mix of all the other parties thrown over the years and each host looks forward to toasting a glass of champagne to their collective success, a happy holiday season and a prosperous new year. The boys have come a long way since their first Matinee, on Decarie, and have plans to continue to expand the brand all over Canada, (right now Matinee has only been to Toronto), Dubai (coming up this spring) and once again over the SXM Festival in St. Marteen.
As they reflect over the past 6 years, there are so many great Matinee moments. From their first ever brunch party at Tiffany’s, to the heatwave at Santos, to the Yelloweek extravanganzas at Buonanotte, the summer on Clocktower Beach and more, the team has been around the city and back again, taking the unique vibe, themes and amazing patrons along for the ride.
Truth be told, the event would be nowhere today without the support of the establishments, each owner, managers, employees, and staff that have collectively made Matinee the successful happening it is.
