The Chainsmokers Detonated The Floor @ The Hoxton
When news broke that The Chainsmokers were booked to play The Hoxton last weekend, I jumped like a prepubescent teenage girl. Following the duo for quite some time (on social media, get your head out of the gutter), The Chainsmokers are one of 2013’s biggest break out stars in the world of electronic music. With a slew of amazing free releases that seem to almost drop bi-weekly, the duo have made waves with early support from some giants in the genre.
With all that being said, not only was I excited to meet the guys themselves, but I was also ecstatic that The Hoxton booked them before any other venue in the city…It is the perfect space to gage a proper crowd reaction and is an awesome venue to test some new music. Plus we took a shameless #Selfie so realistically the night could only go up from there.

While it was clear that many people in attendance were a bit unsure of what exactly was about to transpire, by the end of their set people were definitely shocked…Even I was to some extent. Known for taking ‘Big Room’ sounds in a unique direction, their set was not only aggressive, but they dropped a lot of unexpected releases that got the crowd moving. As a major fan of Audien myself, hearing ‘Leaving You‘ was definitely an amazing moment since I have found the song to be overlooked by many producers. Their remix of The Colourist‘s ‘Fix This‘ and their original track ‘Selfie‘ brought the crowd into an uproar…It was mental in all the right ways.
If what we witnessed last Saturday night was any indication, 2014 is going to be a massive year for Andrew and Alex. Check out the pair’s soundcloud below, attempting to describe their sound would never do justice to how unique their tracks actually are. This might change your life.
