Why You Need To Watch The Habs Game At The Royal Merchant Tavern

A Pub With Amazing Food

Located in the old port of Montreal, The Royal Merchant is a tavern style restaurant with a classy, unique atmosphere aimed to make any guest feel at home. The Merchant is a great place to meet friends, have a cocktail, and indulge in some comfort food, prepared by Ryan Dixon and his team, while watching the habs game on their big screen televisions.

The tavern makes for an amazing alrenative to your typical sports bar à la Cage Aux Sports in a multitude of ways. Let’s explore them

1-The Wings

The wings actually have meat on them, they were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Let the pictures do the selling.

7-Free Shots

Director of Fun Times, Michael Terlecki has an awesome good luck tradition that he likes to keep alive during a Habs game. If you are lucky enough to be sitting at the bar when the Habs score, he gives away the 9 shots to the people sitting around him in celebration of the goal. Michael claims that the 9 shots represent his 9 lives. However, in a hockey context, the number 9 also portays hockey legend Maurice “The Rocket” Richard’s jersey number.

8-The Staff Shirts Are Epic

Micheal printed 50 limited edition shirts for his staff, friends, and regular customers to wear to encourage the Montreal Canadiens. The shirts depict a spin off version of their logo, a ship flying a Boston Bruins flag getting gobbled up into the sea by The Kraken sea monster.
