Newspeak Is Montreal’s Brand New Intimate Venue Made For Electronic Music
There Is A New Venue Coming to Montreal and The Creators Guarantee A Diverse Taste of Alternative and Underground Music.
Montreal’s nightlife is constantly flourishing and thriving on the different artists and musicians that make their way through this metropolis. The city has an ever-increasing demand for more opportunities and avenues to offer creative individuals, whether residents or visitors alike.
Newspeak is the materialized idea of having a new venue in Montreal that caters to a broader range of musical tastes and talents.
The official opening will be on March 26, where a three day opening celebration will see artists such as Ben Pearce, Wankelmut, ESTA., IAMNOBODI, and more perform. Already there is an impressive roaster of upcoming acts viewable through the venues website.
The team behind Samourais Des Jungles Urbaines (SJU), one of Montreal’s most notable promoters, is bringing this dream setting to life. SJU hosted more than a 100 shows in 2014, bringing in artists like Gramatik, Jon Hopkins, Anna Luone, Bonobo, Kaytranada, Chet Faker and countless others.

I spoke with Lucas Jacques, an active associate of SJU, to find out more information about this new venue and what exactly Montrealers can expect.
Newspeak’s goal is to provide a distinct setting that sets itself apart from the hegemonic mainstream music industry. The venue is aimed to create an intimate vibe in a unique way, something that feels missing in the music market right now.
The price of each show is very audience friendly as well, where every event will be roughly 10 to 15 dollars. This reasonable fare seems even more beneficial when you consider the potential for upcoming musicians and DJs coming through Montreal.
“We’re really trying to focus on the opening night, and making sure everyone will have fun” Lucas says in closing remarks.
Canadanightlife is completely on board with the commencement of a new venue in Montreal and we are all very excited to see Newspeak take off in unknown and exciting directions.
