The 10 Things Only People Who Were At Ilesoniq Will Remember
The Festival’s Art Curator
Easily one of the most amazing features of Ilesoniq was the creative stage design and festival art. For the festivals premiere year, they certainly made an interesting landscape of fungus and floral. At the back of the field there was more space to move with artists painting on the spot.

The Neon stage was the smallest of all three, but had some of the highest energy with people packed together. The second day saw a growing crowd that spread out over the pathway as LOUDPVCK, Torro Torro, and Caspa performed. The Neon stage was well structured to provide a over hang over the front of the crowd, which packed people closely as the rain fell.

People in Creative Disguises
One of the most interesting elements of music festivals is the colourful palette of people they attract. From infamous horse heads, giant furry bears, bananas, and several other bizarre looking costumes made an appearance at IlesSoniq. The rain played no hinderance to the attendee’s creativity when it came to apparel.

The Amount of Water That Came Down On Us
Despite the rain on each day, nothing seemed to dull the energy of the attendees at Ilesoniq who came to hear good music. Friday’s weather held up until night where a light mist came down, but Saturday definitely got the most wet. Once the night approached, a sea of ponchos and hood stood beside those in tank tops and bare skin as both moved harmoniously to the rhythm.

Adventure Club Sharing a Moment With Their Fans on Friday
Adventure Club headlined the Superheroes Stage on Friday to a massive crowd of loyal fans. Over top of each lyrical track was the yelling of a combined surge of people who knew every word. Leighton and Christian returned the love by coming down from stage more than once to crowd surf.

The Light Show
One of the best things about large festivals is the pyrotechnics, visuals, and light work that go behind the production. As festivals get bigger and expand in music, the eye candy must grow as well. Ilesoniq had an amazing display of fireworks for each headliner with a majestic laser layout.

The Mirage stage on Saturday was uplifted for the final performance when Infected Mushroom brought their signature stage design. The two spheres act as personal vessels for each artist, as they are planted on a visual screen with Ilesoniq’s glitchy ceiling hanging above.

So Much Kandi
Where there’s a rave, there is bound to be kandi. The Plur scene certainly made themselves vibrant at IleSoniq with more than just bracelets. Weather dressed in hood spirits or tutu’s, to just a few kandi around the wrist, it seemed fairly common to wear.

TORRO TORRO Made Serious Motion on the First Day
Nothing could really prepare the field of people for Torro Torro’s set on Saturday. From start to finish these two legendary DJ’s from Toronto turned the muddy pit into a non stop splash pad. Everyone had their legs splattered and exerted themselves from the non stop energetic set that literally had the whole crowd off their feet.

Delicious Dirty Dogs
This tasty treat was perfectly fit for a festivals playground. Located conveniently close to the Oasis stage, the booth served gourmet hot dogs to those who probably needed a break from bouncing. There was only smiles from the staff as they were excited to have their catering team at Montreal’s first Ilesoniq.

Silly Signs
You have to give credit to the creative minds of ilesoniq’s crowd. There was everything from enlarged posters of David Guetta’s face on drugs, cartoon versions of of Kill The Noise and Dillon Francais, vulgar expressions on billboards to a large a variety of flags. What makes you stick out in a sea of people is something to rise above the rest; literally.

Zeds Dead had the Oasis Stage Full of Mayhem and Rain
Zeds Dead performed during the rainy night on Saturday to a swarm of lip-syncing fans who rose their Z’s for Canada’s classic duo. Easily one of the most anticipated acts of IleSoniq, DC and Hooks packed the Oasis stage with those eager to hear dubstep. Zeds Dead opened with their album single, “Hadouken”, which instantly met a round of deafening cheers before the crunching bass came down in waves.

Their set consisted of a variety of old tracks and their most recent EP, Somewhere Else. One of the highlights from their set would easily be Zeds Dead’s collaboration with Perry Farrell on “Blink”. This slow moving song explodes with shaking dub in a sonic soundscape.

Zeds Dead’s last song took everyone’s breath away as the initial notes of “Eyes on Fire” rang through the speakers. Easily one of the most powerful and popular remixes, this track is a well known show finisher for the duo. The heavy bass and complex structure matched with Blue Foundation’s vocals work flawlessly together.
