M. Mme : The New Gourmet Wine Bar On Laurier
Wine bottles up to the ceiling… literally
The Laurier neighborhood just added another top-tier bar with a great concept to their list of refined establishments. The idea behind M. Mme wine bar sounds obvious, but it houses multiple layers worth discovering.
The masterminds behind it Stelio Perombelon and Hovig Kalanjian wanted to offer a unique adventure for wine lovers; not only will they have access to a huge selection of fantastic private imports, but also to elevated finger food.
A wonderful place for any foodie that enjoys quick gourmet bites or a more extensive dining experience complemented by the art of wine tasting.
No wine bar would be complete without a massive selection of delicious wines from all over the world, and M. Mme does not disappoint. Their wine cellar is actually on display in front of your very eyes; one of the walls is made of glass doors with wine bottles from the floor to the ceiling.
With 660 labels originating from 18 different countries, you are guaranteed to find your perfect pick in terms of taste and budget.
You can tell they really put a lot of thought and attention into details of their decor as well; they completely renovated the place from the top to bottom. The whole food and wine experience at M. Mme is definitely complemented by the stunning interior design. Large windows and wood are the main accents in the concept.
The main floor is the actual restaurant with all the tables and the large granite bar, followed by the kitchen in the back, but still visible to the patrons.
What’s great is that they also built a big private room dedicated to wine seminars and tastings downstairs; a stunning well-lit space that houses a square bar where the sommelier stands in the middle to give the session a more familiar vibe.

Mustard marinated leeks
One of the freshest items on the menu to devour on its own or as a side. Get some crunch from the kale chips sitting on top of the leeks which are marinated in mustard for a little kick. Tie the whole thing with an intricate kale-apple-green onion sauce that is absolutely to die for.
-
Raw hamachi
A light dish for warmer nights. Pairing the taste of the Hamachi with the radishes and fresh citrus accents is very well-thought; the mix of acidic flavours and raw fish is always a winning combination.
-
Roasted duck
A superb presentation of succulent ingredients. The sauce and the cook on the duck are on point and perfectly complemented by the sides on the plate. The rich taste of the duck with the creaminess of the beetroot puree with raspberry accents is heavenly. Spring onions and pholiote mushrooms made the cut as the delicious vegetables of choice for this dish.

Stack of foie gras pancakes
A tasty marriage of flavours you don’t see every day. If you enjoy foie gras, you will love the combination with crumbs of chocolate for the sweet/savory aspect of the recipe. To get the balance just right, a touch of acid on the plate is added with the nice caramelized apple vinegar made in house.

Steamed omelet
Omelet never had a texture this pleasant. You can find shrimps and crustacean accents in each smooth and rich bite.

Gougères
Miniature cheesy goodness. If you’re feeling peckish and want a little something simple but tasty, these ham and cheese savory choux pastries will do the trick.
