[Review] Tournée Mixo-Gastronomique 2013 at Dolcetto & Co,
Last wednesday night our good friend Keven Dextradeur invited us to his creation named: La Tournée Mixo-gastronomique. The event was held at Dolcetto & Co, in the heart of Montreal’s old port, not to mention a beauty of a restaurant. Now, you’re probably asking yourself what is TMG? TMG is a unique concept designed and engineered by Keven. The usual pairing of alcoholic beverages with a menu established by a restaurant’s chef is reversed during TMG night. The alcoholic beverages are created by a Mixologist named Lawrence, the chef of the chosen establishment then creates a food menu according to these drinks. Every month, there are new drinks and a new restaurant to discover. For the third edition of TMG, we were seated right in front of the action the whole night, where he had the chance to discuss Lawrence’s passion for the art of bartending and his thought process while mixing each drink. I mean when the bartender is mixing with a gold strainer, spoon and jigger I feel i’m at the right place.

Here is the breakdown of the third edition of La Tournée Mixo-Gastronomique:
3 drinks served with 3 dishes.
Our first alcoholic concoction was a tequila and groseille (gooseberries) served in a champagne flute. The mix was infused with fine bubbles which made it very refreshing. To complement this freshness, vermouth marinated scallops were served with thin apple slices. The mix was immaculate.

Our second drink consisted of fig and posch Canadian Club, Galliano, Mosto Cotto and fresh lemon juice cocktail, topped with an ice cube sphere of tarragon and a fig. One of the best drink I have enjoyed. A fig and foie gras foccacia, was served to complement the drink. Will let the pictures explain themselves.
They certainly kept the best for last, our third concoction, a Moores Mist: Russian Standard vodka infused with a fabulous spice named “Ras-El Hanout”, fresh lemon juice, apricot, topped with mint and italian bitters. “Le plat de resistance” a sumptuous lamb stuffed cannelloni with a hint of mint. The chefs and friendly waiting staff could not have prepared better dishes to embellish Lawrence’s drinks.

The night was a great success, the drinks and food pairings were succulent and the ambiance of the resto was really comfortable. Thanks to Keven for the invitation and will be sure to cover the next TMG at Brasero Hardi. Here is a preview of the 4th edition and bellow are some more pictures.
Cheers,
Nick
