11 HIGHEST PAID DJs – FORBES LIST OF 2013’S
Ever wondered how much your favourite DJs make in a year? Well thanks to Forbes Magazine, known for their usual business-related lists, who recently published a list of the highest paid DJs of 2013, it is possible. It’s not surprising that we can guess most of the first few spots, but the last few spots can be a little tricky. Most of them being associated to a more mainstream sound, here is the full list.
1- Calvin Harris $46 million

Surprisingly, DJ Mag’s fifteenth DJ is the one who made the most earnings. Rumoured to make around $300,000 per show, cash adds up pretty fast with residencies, shows and other sales.

2- Tiësto $32 million

Considered a veteran of the EDM scene, Tiësto earned enough to rank himself at number 2 thanks to sold out shows around the world and summer residencies in Las Vegas and Ibiza.
3- David Guetta $30 million

Known for his many radio hits, Guetta has had no problem selling tracks thanks to his collaboration with many known artists which attracts their own fans as well.
4- Swedish House Mafia $25 million

The Swedish DJ trio now dissolved, they still ranked up $25 million in the last year, with the help of their world tour and their last album, One Last Tour and Until Now.
5- Deadmau5 $22 million

The one who loves to say it like it is. The mouse-headed DJ charges $200 000 per show, and his multiple merchandise deals place him at the fifth spot.
6- Avicii $20 million

The youngest DJ to make the cut on the list. This 21 years-old DJ/producer came out with a brand new album, residencies over the summer and all kinds of appearances such as on Madonna’s MDNA tour.
7- Afrojack $18 million

Probably the least surprising. Showing off his crashed brand new Ferrari (after owning it for 1 hour), Afrojack loves to flaunt his expensive ways of life.
8- Armin Van Buuren $17 million

The trance king released a new album last Spring, and has more than enough sold out shows around the world under his belt to earn him a whooping $17 million.
9- Skrillex and Kaskade (tied) $16 million
Tied at the ninth spot, both DJs have made $16 million in the last year from sold out shows all over the globe, a residency in Vegas and regular shows in the city (Kaskade) to producing Grammy award-winning music (Skrillex).
10- Steve Aoki $14 million

Aoki-fying America seems to be a pretty grossing job. All this caking and crowd surfing places the DJ at the tenth spot.
11- DJ Pauly D and Diplo (tied) $13 million
Surprisingly enough, DJ Pauly D is tied with Diplo at 13 million. Forbes Magazine included the earnings he did with TV appearances…probably the only reason why he made it on this list.
One thing for sure about these DJs is they knew exactly what to do in the last year to rack up the most stacks. Who are you surprised to not see on the list? Let us know by leaving a comment below!
