Front Room: Recess Is A New Local Party Created For Front Rite

On May 8th, Front Rite members unite together to meet for a first ever “Recess party.

For anyone not familiar with the Facebook community, Front Rite is a virtual space for those with similar interests in music, entertainment, and local talent. At nearly 1,500 members strong, the group is expanding among a Montreal based audience.

It’s rather undeniable that the Front Rite crowd knows how to have a fun time. Their presence was seen at Igloofest this year among a group of ravers at the front corner. You always notice the energy as well in New City Gas near the security-free stair-less space.

It seems only fitting that a proper party be held to official commemorate the group’s abundance and energy. The very first event is indeed happening on Friday, May 8th at DIX71 Nightclub (Map embedded below).

Anthony D’Urbano is the founder and main curator of the Front Rite Facebook Page. He organized the event in collaboration with Joe Stonehouse. I spoke with Anthony to hear more about the music, venue, and future goals of Front Rite and this event series.

The main musician DJing the first night is New York producer Bender. The mastermind has been impressing his fans recently with a series of steamy remixes that rework well known vocal hits. You can expect moody deep melodies and thick bass lines.

Stonehouse is our resident for the night and is a local Montreal musicians and is a local musician who has his audience deeply rooted in the Front Rite community. His approach to the deep genre is ideal for setting the tone within the walls of DIX71

The venue is an interesting place that Anthony describes as having a great sound system and a fairly large dance floor. The visual spectacle that the club offers is also renowned and intriguing, DIX71 is a specific choice of the Recess host.

The first Front Room: Recess party is a chance for all the members of the online community to materialize on the dance floor and make connections before the summer starts. If there is a good turn out and overall positive response, then more similar night are to follow.

Anthony explains that, “another one of the goals of this project is to enhance the scene by bringing everyone up to speed on what is at their disposal.” The unity among all members that he seems to be going towards is a special experience that is totally possible throughout our community.

The whole goal of the Recess project is to create a physical space that can bring members together while allowing other members to create and contribute. This collaborative approach is much more than just meeting inside the venue. Strength in numbers, dancing together.
