For our inaugural installement of our brand new column “Chefs CreationsCanada Nightlife teamed up and collaborated with none other than Chef Scott Geiring from Bistro Carambola.

The Challenge?

Create 5 Out-Of-This-World Gourmet Burgers and let Carambola’s customers decide which one they would like to see added to the lunch menu for 1 week.

The great part about all this is YOU get to decide which one it will be by voting at the bottom of this page!

The burger with the most votes will be featured on the Lunch Time Chalkboard Menu for 1 week starting Saturday October 18th 2014 (12pm-3pm).

Without futhur ado, here are Scott’s 5 Burger Creations. And please don’t forget to vote for your favorite!

Sriracha Soft Shelled Crab Burger:

  • Tempura soft shell crab
  • Grilled pineapple
  • Pickled cucumber & curried carrot slaw
  • Lemon aioli
  • Toasted sesame bun
  • Sriracha glaze

Ostrich Schnitzel Burger:

  • Crispy panko crusted ostrich
  • Sauteed peaches
  • Black garlic paste
  • Grilled cheese infused bread
  • Black trumpet chanterelle mushrooms
  • Truffle pesto
  • Sauteed spinach
  • Fried egg
  • Truffle mayo

The Camel Burger:

  • Ground camel patty
  • Pickled onions
  • Grilled peppers
  • Cucumber
  • Garlic yogurt sauce
  • Grilled naan bread

The Croc:

  • Blackened cajun crocodile
  • Tempura sweet potato bun
  • Crispy lettuce
  • Vine ripened tomato
  • Pickled hot peppers

  • Tuna tartare
  • Canadian lobster salad

The burger with the most votes will be featured on the “Lunch Time Chalkboard Menu” at Bistro Carambola between Saturday October 18th & Saturday October 25th. The chalkboard menu is only available from 12pm-3pm. 

“So this is how it went”
I was having lunch at the bistro a few weeks ago and I was telling Scott about this website I stumbled upon called “PORNBURGER.ME” by proclaimed Burger Pervert Mathew Ramsey, while researching “gourmet burgers” for an article I was writing about Montreal’s #LeBurgerWeek.

According to Mathew “burgers are an aphrodisiac” and we could not agree more.

Inspired by Mathew, as well as our mutual interests in the art of culinary photography, Scott & Canada Nightlife took up the same challenge; creating #burgerporn.

During the first week of September, as you can probably remember, a massive burger frenzy swept through all of Canada courtesy of #LEBURGERWEEK, and everyone has had burgers on their mind since.

This challenge is our way of contributing to the frenzy in a fun, tasty, and engaging way.

*This project was a collaboration between JP Castonguay (photographer), Chef Scott Geiring (chef at Bistro Carambola), Le Buger Week & Canada Nightlife.
