[Review] Bistro Terrasses Bonsecours In The Old Port Of Montreal

Last week we ate at the Terrasses Bonsecours bistro, conveniently located in the Old Port of Montreal looking over the Saint-Lawrence River. Terrasses Bonsecours has been in operation for 4 years now and is open 7 nights a week with different themes each night. The bistro has a 28 item tapas menu which is inspired by world travel. The ingredients are fresh and their color vibrant-  which matches the mood of the summer season. Upon arrival we were seated at the bar then made our way to our table.  As expected, the bistro was packed. The menu is a mix of appetizers and tapas size main courses. We were feeling hungry and got to taste quite a few items on their menu. As for cocktails & sangria the options are endless. We loved the pitcher of champagne & strawberry sangria. At the back of the Bistro is the open kitchen, which gives you a chance to catch the chefs in action. Overall the experience was great and the vibe is good!

I am going to list the meals we tried and give you our comments and thoughts on each dish. We also have a Giveaway For A 100$ Gift Card To The Terrasses Bonsecours Bistro. The more you share it, the more chances you have of winning.

The Mediterranean Greek Salad was the first of four salads served to us. I love starting my meals with a salad of some sort and this one hit the spot. All the ingredients were fresh and the colours made the dish stand out from the others.

The Arugula Salad was served with diced mandarins & topped with parmesans shavings. The vinaigrette was made up from white wine!

The Green Apple and Endive Salad which was served with a topping of gorgonzola & walnuts. The cheese complimented the other taste perfectly making it my favourite salad.

The Tomato, Mango & Mint Salad was another dish that stood out from the others with vibrants colours. The mango was fresh and gave the salad a sweet side.

For the tartare lovers, Terrasses Bonsecours has you covered! They have 3 different options of tartare on the menu, the beef tartare, the salmon tartare and finally the tuna tartare. The beef tartare had a generous amount of dijon mustard mixed in with it which gave it a certain spiciness. As for the tuna & salmon they were both excellent.

The Shrimp On The Barbie was my favourite dish on the 28 item tapas menu! It was the first time I ate such big shrimps grilled to an absolute perfection on the BBQ. The salsa that is served on the side is amazing, you absolutely need to try this dish.

The next dish goes by Octopodi, a mix of  grilled Octopus and vegetables. It was my first time eating octopus and it was nothing I had trouble devouring.

The Loukaniko is a dish made from authentic Greek grilled sausages. Unfortunately for us they were a bit dry when we tried them but the idea of grilled sausage is great.

The Angus Beef was dry & overcooked once we got to tasting it which resulted in a classic dish not being a favourite.

Another amazing dish we loved a lot was the Grilled Ahi Tuna which is served with a caramelized soya sauce which acts as an amazing compliment to the tuna. Make sure you dip before taking a bite.

If your looking for a quick easy bite when you sit down go straight for the Lil Macs. They are mini burgers served with caramelized onions grilled on the BBQ.
