1- Taylor:How did you boys start off your music, and how did the name Blasterjaxx come about?

Blasterjaxx: The name Blaterjaxx was created 3 years ago. We were looking for a powerful name that sounded cool to express our music.

2- Taylor: What age did you guys start producing music?

Blasterjaxx: Since I was a young kid my love and passion for music was beyond words. When I was 15, I started producing some music here and there. So it’s been over 8 years I’ve been involved with the scene.

3- Taylor: Were you boys always into the EDM scene, or were there any other types of music you had interest in?

Blaterjaxx: I started off with HipHop and Reggae. I’ve always loved this type of music. Even now I still listen to Rick Ross, Ace Hood and even Vybz Kartel.

4- Taylor: Over the past few years you both have been extremely successful and have been touring all over the world, what was by far the craziest show that you’ve performed?

Blasterjaxx: The craziest show was Montreal, last Night. We also played Ultra South Africa which was very crazy and energetic, but last night at New City Gas was mental.

We are for sure coming back here, we love Montreal.

5- Taylor: You boys have been on Laidback Luke, Tiesto and Hardwells label, how does it feel having their support?

Blasterjaxx: In the beginning, it’s new and exciting, it is such an honour to be on their label. Even now we still consider it being incredible. But we’ve been on almost ever big label such as Mixmash by Laidback Luke, Revealed by Hardwell, Spinnin Records, Musical Freedom, Black Hole, Dim mak etc…

6- Taylor: What are your favourite aspects of the EDM scene?

Blasterjaxx: The crowd is just crazy with all the ravers together, everybody is just getting f**kd up on the music and we love it. It’s good to see all the fans having a good time and everyone just smiling. Where we came from in the Netherlands, EDM was already big 20 years ago, everyone is just so used to it. It’s also very hard to impress the crowd back in the Netherlands, but we are very happy that the rest of the world is getting involved with EDM culture.

7- Taylor: Before the show in Montreal, what did you expect?

Blasterjaxx: To be honest, we saw our social media channels buzzing about the show, we were really looking forward to playing at New City Gas. But we didn’t expect it to be this crazy. We saw the venue just a few hours before we went on and we fell in love with it right away. It was so packed and so full of energy. We saw the hole crowd going wild. We love Montreal and the energy , it was a great show.

8- Taylor: I have many friends who are into the whole producing scene, what is good advice for anymore who would like to succeed in this industry?

Blasterjaxx: The most important thing is to stay original and don’t copy. Try to create your own style because everybody is copying each other right now. The promos and demos we receive are 90% just copies. We are looking for people who have creativity and sound different from the rest.

9- Taylor: How long does it usually take to produce a song?

Blasterjaxx: It always depends, for example Mystica and Snake were both made in 3 days. We had 2 big tracks made in 3 days.

10- Taylor: Who are your main influences? Who inspired you to become who you are today?

Blasterjaxx: In the beginning it was Tiesto, he’s also from the Netherlands so we really consider him a hero. We grew up with him being the king of EDM, so we really do look up to him.

11- Taylor: In 2014, what should fans be excited for?

Blasterjaxx: We have crazy shows worldwide and a lot of cool tracks coming up. We have a new track called Echo with Nicky Romero and another track coming out with W&W. We can’t wait to show everybody our new music. 2014 will be a crazy year for us.

These boys are extremely hard working and very modest towards their fans. They only started 3 years ago and they have had tremendous success already! It was a pleasure meeting up with them.
