7 Montreal Restaurants You Did Not Think Of Reserving At To Watch The Habs Game

Why stay home and watch the game alone when you could enjoy great food & drinks with friends and the rest of Montreal? Everyone knows Montrealers are crazy about hockey, which makes playoff season that much more of an excuse to go out and watch the game with friends & family.

Before we get to where you should be making your reservations, Na’eem from Le Méchant Mangeur has a couple golden rules for you to follow:

  • If you reserve to watch hockey and eat, you better show up!
  • That fancy restaurant is not a bar.
  • Pace yourself, a plate a period.
  • The after-party should be somewhere else.
  • Don’t yell at the Boston fans across the room, send them daiquiris instead.
  • Watch the game with your friends, not your twitter feed.

Grumman 78 HQ

Facebook

Grumman’s HQ in St.Henri can easily be the biggest hockey and food party in the city. They not only take serving a unique dining experience seriously, they love hockey as much as you do. Grumman projects the game on the wall where you can watch well from most seats. Where most restaurants might hate you for occupying those seats for the entire game, Grumman welcomes you and has you feeling at home as you yell ‘GO HABS’ with a mouth full of taco!

Cartel Street Food Bar

On the corner of St.Urbain and Fairmont, Cartel Street Food bar is a cool place watch with a group or not. Their menu is inspired by street food around the world, which makes for great hockey grub! They have plates to share, dishes to taste and a pretty damn good baja lobster taco!

Imadake Izakaya

Facebook

Everyone knows about Montreal’s favourite Japanese izakaya joint. The home of the sake bomb can only mean greatness while a hockey game is on. While the restaurant has avoided putting up a TV, they recently installed one in their private room for the playoffs. Getting your friends together for a fusion of Montreal and Japanese culture might be the recipe for one damn fine night. One tip; reserve now.
