What We Like In Music Right Now (Vol.2)
There is a growing demand for good music as the amount of musicians swell in size and style. Dance music has never been considered such an umbrella term as it’s constantly fading the lines of genres. Festivals expand in almost all aspects and line ups list a range of new talent. So where do you start looking in all this chaos and creativity?
Canadanightlife has the answer to your confusion and clustered Soundcloud streams. Every week I will do the searching for you to find songs that are certified fresh or instant pleasures.
No promotions, no numbers, no genres, no nonsense; this is purely quality music that we think you’ll like.
Matt Zanardo – “Love Blind” (Original 4am Mix)
Matt Zanardo starts this week’s list off with a massive intro that is sure to have you moving. The beat that comes bursting past the vocals is stunningly constructed since it is matched beside a memorizing melody. The overall rhythm and pacing of vocal clips seems perfectly timed. Press play and enjoy as this ‘Music For The Masses’ commences again.
Alina Baraz & Galimatias – “Fantasy”
This track is definitely certified fresh as it matches two power house musicians on one astonishing collaboration. Galimatias’s skillful flow of melodies blending smoothly into Alina Baraz’s vocals is why this track stuck out so much. Enjoy this delightful candy and keep scrolling.
Bordertown – “Rapture”
This track comes in euphorically charged with booming bass and a catchy vocal. What else could you possibly ask for on a deep house single? Bordertown show their style with talent as the overall mastering leaves the soundscape sharp and soulful.
Strange Talk – “Morning Sun” (Dillon Francis Remix)
Strange Talk’s energetic lyrics come shining through the melody with clever catchiness as you can’t help but get a second wave of summer sensation. It’s not long though in Dillon Francis’s remix before he comes crashing down with happy synths and enlarged vocals that echo over the rhythm. This song is sure to be a frenzy starter when he comes to New City Gas on November 30th.
ODESZA – “Say My Name” (Kastle Remix)
ODESZA has launched a remix contest drawing in a big crowd of eager producers. The outcome has been astonishing as several well known musicians have happened on the opportunity to redo this iconic sounding duo. Kastle’s remix is a master piece that feels lost in the deep. By adding a groovy bass line below the vocals and occasionally distorting the lyrics, he creates a memorizing remix.
Grynpyret – “Quanta”
One reason that this slowly paced dub track stood out so much is the transistion that occurs half way through the song. The beginning half shows emphasis to the softer side of Grynpyret’s talent with melodies before returning to a bass heavy closing. There are teases of dub in the first half just as there are teases of tones in the finish.
The Game – “Let’s Ride” (SNBRN Remix)
SNBRN comes in with tremendous force on their latest remix of another rap single. Following the success of the “21 Questions” remix by 50 Cent, which got over a million plays, this producer has come out with a new remix of a classic rap tune. The darkened vocals of The Game make this music worthy for any speakers.
FAVOURITE MIXES
Patrick Topping – DGTL Paradise ADE Podcast #001
I don’t know much content around who Patrick Topping is or what is to come of this podcast series, but I do know if Deep House Amsterdam’s Soundcloud posts something new, you should probably listen. Upon hitting play I was instantly met with a wave of new house sound. This mix is definitely a must hear.
What So Not – ‘Flying To Europe Mix’
This mix comes in light of Flume and Emoh Instead’s monstrous tour throughout Western Europe. In terms of new material there is not so much present, but it is a good variety of heavy fused out trap out tracks with classic singles from this past year that are sure to resonate with anyone who has been slightly aware of music trends. Yet what makes this mix so memorable is the flawless blend of song to song that mashes several genres.
