[Review] Yuukai Sushi Restaurant on Parc Avenue
This past Friday night we had the pleasure of dinning in the now re-opened Yuukai Sushi Restaurant located on Parc Avenue corner St-Viateur.
Eight months of renovations later, due to an unfortunate fire next door, the restaurant is finally ready to accommodate Montreal’s sushi lovers. As the owner Chris told us, they are not trying to compete with the other already established high-end sushi restaurants of Montreal, Yuukai is a breed of it’s own. A Japanese Fusion menu, a BYOB (bring your own booze) formula and a fairly low price point, are what makes Yuukai different. These three factors make for a hassle free night and best of all the BYOB makes for a great place to eat at with a group of friends before going out to party. They even offer a private room that can hold up to 16 people.
So here it is, the food:
Entrees :
Grilled Calamari with Miso and Wasabi sauce. Feels good not to have them deep fried for once and not chewy like rubber.
We were served all of the chef specialties. The chef, Karl, told us he tries to switch it every week, this man is running a weekly menu, affordable and without compromising quality at all.
Salmon Tartare served on a thin crisp gallette. Bite size portions.
Cured Black Cod with Shiitake Mushrooms. The fish literally melted in your mouth.
Striped Bass Carpaccio. Lightly spiced with a touch of Ginger.
Specialities of the Chef:
Soleil :Spicy Salmon, deep fried, topped off with caviar.
Platter:
-Rising Sun
-Starfish
-Kama
With Teriyaki and Wafu Sauce

Rolls:
The night was an overall success. Montreal Nightlife would like to thank Chris, Karl and Steven, as well as the entire staff at Yuukai for their great service. If your looking for a fun sushi place to try on the Plateau, this is your best bet.
Cheers,
Nick
